50 Shades of Grey - Crazy in love HQ

50 Shades of Compassion.(शतार्ध करुणरङ्गः) shartArdha karuNaranga.

Compassion(karuNa)(करुण) is a human emotional response ... a cocktail of love, empathy and a feeling of reaching out to another person with a heavy dose of sympathy.

It's a complex emotional response without which many of us would not be able to emote.

Most spiritual practices advocate a feeling of detachment  vairAgya(वैराग्य) in order to get onto the higher planes of consciousness.

But what is the literal meaning of vairAgya(वैराग्य)?

Well technically it means loss of color.

So why do we want to become "colorless"?

How are we supposed to feel compassion (करुण) is we are losing the shades of life?

A spiritual being is expected to be detached yet be an Ocean of Compassion(करुणसागर)(karuNa sAgara).

Compassion is a bilateral expression.

It's not unilateral.

We flow with compassion and should allow ourselves to receive the pleasure that comes with it.

vairAgya(वैराग्य) need not be a lobectomy of our emotions.

Many view pleasure as a bad word just because it needs to go through the sense organs and many want to by pass the senses to reach a state of bliss(आनन्द)(Ananda) yet forgetting that it's through the senses even compassion flows.

So why deprive ourselves the pleasure and joy of giving and receiving?

We should learn to enjoy the feeling of reciprocation that 50 shades of compassion offers (शतार्ध करुणरङ्गः) (shartArdha karuNaranga)

Mr Grey will see you now.
