Bee Gees - Words

Multitasking (नानावधान )

Are we actually capable of multitasking?

Apparently not!

Even though many of us feel that we are able to multitask but that is not fully the case.

The brain just shifts focus from one task to another at lightning speed and we mistake this as being able to multitask!

So ladies out there...too bad...we do NOT actually multitask though we feel so.

Guys ...you were right..none of us multitask!

The brain/mind is best at deluding itself.

No need to search for माया (mAyA) elsewhere outside of us.

माया (mAyA) is within our minds.

Now...let's explore another angle of the brain being able to focus on one thing at one time.

So if its ONLY ONE...does God have to be ONE or Many?

Ever thought of this?

Logically God has to be ONLY ONE (एकम् एव) (eka eva) because if there is more than ONE GOD the mind would never be able to focus.
So "Multiform" or "Uniform"?

Next, how do we increase focus?

Have we realized that most of the while our thoughts or words are nothing but an avalanche(हिमस्खलन )(himaskhalana) of words and impulses?

How can we increase concentration?

With just ONE WORD it can lead to ONE DIRECTION(no no...not the former band of Zayn Malik).

So which word are we going to choose to focus upon?

That is the independence (स्वतन्त्र)(svatantra) which we have to choose just ONE WORD that can help us increase our concentration.

At times "It's only words and words are all I have to take your heart away"

The Sound of Silence (Original Version from 1964)

मौन-ध्वनि mauna-dhvani (The Sound of Silence)

Can there really be Silence(मौन)(mauna)?

Even if we keep quiet and decide not to speak as in a vow of silence (मौन-व्रत)(mauna-vrta) can we really be truly silent?

Silence in the real sense is almost impossible though many say in transcendental meditation its possible but  as a person who does not practice meditation I would not know this for sure though many who meditate claim to feel the union with the Universal Studios..ooops Universal Consciousness...but isn't an experience of a mystical kind too not actually silent? Cos its felt isn't it?

We then have to go back to the definition of the word Silence.

Does Silence mean only absence of sound?

Or is Silence the absence of thought, word, deed and experience?

Let's see, in deep sleep is there really silence?

Well, if you snore (घर्घररव)(gharghararava) then you are not being silent either!

Ok..deep sleep is almost silence to most of us but is it?

What about the sound of the breath(श्वास-ध्वनि)(shvAsa-dhvAni) and

the sound of the heart beat (हृदयस्पन्दन-ध्वानि) (hRdayaspandana-dhvAni) which functions in the background to keep us alive in deep sleep or even in deep meditation?

So is silence ever possible?

May be Simon and Garfunkle got it right...Silence is a Sound.(मौन ध्वनि इति)(mauna dhvAni iti)

Billy Idol - Dancing With Myself

अग्निदेवो द्विजातीनां मुनीनां हृदि दैवतम।

प्रतिमा स्वल्पबुद्धीनां सर्वत्र समदर्शिनः ॥

agnidevo dvijAtInAM munInAM hRdi daivatam|

pratimA svalpabuddhInAM sarvatra samadarshinaH ||

A famous quote by Chanakya.

Translation:

The Fire God is of two classifications. God of the sages lives in their hearts.

God of the dim-witted  lives in idols. But those who have equal vision ,they see God everywhere and in an everything.

Well, here Chanakya seems to not favor the practice of idol worship and he certainly favored omnipresence of God.

So what say you about Idol worship?

Well for me...I do like Billy IDOL!

Kukkad - Student of the Year | Sidharth Malhotra | Varun Dhawan

बुद्धिमान् शिष्यः  buddhimAn ShiSya: (The intelligent student)

पन्डितः   :    वत्स! देव कुत्र अस्ति? panDita: vatsa! deva kutra asti?(Teacher : Dear boy! Where is God?)

शिष्यः     :    गुरोः! देव कुत्र नास्ति? ShiSya:  guroH! deva kutra nAsti? (Student: Teacher! Where does God not exists?)

Ok..the story is about a student who seeks to study under a renowned scholar and approaches the scholar and says he wants to be his student.

The scholar decides to test the intelligence of the student and asks him "Where is God?"

The student replies "Where does God not exists"

Then the scholar is happy and tells the student "God is everywhere and all pervading "

The scholar is happy that the student is intelligent and admits him as a student.

Ok guys and gals...when you sign up for my class this would be one of the stories you would be reading but seriously I do not really agree with this story.

What nonsense is this? किम् इदं निरर्थकः  ? (kim idaM nirarthakaH)

Isn't it the work of the teacher to impart knowledge to any student and make him/her intelligent?

What is the use of just teaching the so called intelligent students and not impart knowledge to the so called lesser intelligent?

It's like a doctor asking a patient? Are you sick or are you well? and only accepting patients who are not sick and letting the sick die.

Weird story right?

Anyways anyone with effort and a dedicated teacher can become the Student of the Year!

विनय(vinaya) is the Sanskrit word for Humble.
“God made the prayer incumbent in order to eliminate arrogance.” - Fatima al-Zahra (a.s)
If your prayers aren’t making you humble, there is something wrong with your prayers.

Michael Jackson - Man In The Mirror (Official Video)

Man in the Mirror.

The word for mirror in Sanskrit does reflect on the human psyche of wanting to leave an impression.

Let's reflect on the word Mirror today.

The word for Mirror in Sanskrit is दर्पण (darpaNa).

It has other meanings too.

It can also mean Pride,Vanity, eye, kindling, inflaming as to lead to pride.

Well in order to establish "Pride,Vanity, eye, kindling, inflaming as to lead to pride" we need to have a reflection.

A perception of ourselves, the reflection (प्रतिबिम्ब) we project (प्रक्षेप) ourselves to be mirrored by our desires.

Soooooooooooo? Wow! I am starting to sound like Maxim Bady!(go Google Maxim Bady...He is one heck of a guy)

I mean..what was I trying to say here?

Well.. I guess nothing much.

Just wanted to explain about the word Mirror and spoke some mumbo jumbo in the process.

Chandramukhi Tamil Movie | Ra Ra Video Song | Rajinikanth | Nayanthara |...

भरतनाट्यम् (bharatanATyam)

Let's talk about dance today.

Yes! भरतनाट्यम् (bharatanATyam)

Now mostly the word भरतनाट्यम् (bharatanATyam) is thought to be dance of India.

But is that what it means?

Not really!

Let's find out what it means.

भरत (bharata) can be broken down into the following:

1) "भ" इति अक्षरेण भावः ("bha" iti akSareNa bhAvaH) =bha stands for bhAva

2) "र" इति अक्षरेण रागः   ("ra" iti aksSareNA rAgaH)  = ra stands for rAga

3) "त" इति अक्षरेण तालः   (  ta iti akSareNa tAlaH  ) = ta stands for tAla

4) नाट्यम् (nATyam) means dance.

Therefore भरतनाट्यम् (bharatanATyam) means a dance that is combination of bhAva+rAga+tAla

So it has to be a perfect balance..surely we would not want to over dose the "ra" part and guess who would come calling? Ra Ra anyone????

Kindly take note that all classes have been put on hold due to the recent spike of Covid 19 cases and classes would only resume if and whe...
