Lets listen to this song from Bahubali.
The song is in Telugu but the chorus is Sanskrit that too the Shiva Tandava Stotram.
The Shiva Tandava Stotram was composed by none other than the great devotee of Lord Shiva the great Ravana of Ramayan Fame.
But before we get into too much details..lets get to know Prabhas!
Yes...our Bahubali Hottie Prabhas!
Lets start.
Prabhas....what does his name mean?
Well..its a Sanskrit root word प्रभास्(Prabhas) which means Effulgence,Splendour,To Shine.
Well Prabhas surely lives up to his name!
To learn a new language we need to start having a Search Engine in our brain.
We need to search for the meaning of day to day words we see.
There is no acute need to dive into religous texts right away because without a basic understanding of grammar we are not going to appreciate any hidden meanings in religious text.
Many learners of Sanskrit try to become too "Bhagavad Geetaish" right away.
No harm but slow and steady wins the race.
Try looking for meaning of simple words we come across daily for examples names!
If you are Hindu mostly Hindu names are Sanskrit origin, so start of by searching for the meaning of your own name.
Next as you watch any Indian movie..be it Bollywood,Tollywood,Kollywood or any other wood..try to search for the meaning of the names of your favorite movie stars.
For example today we learnt the meaning of the word Prabhas.
Now just dont stop there..we need to form links.
Let me give you a link from the word Prabhas.
From the root word Prabhas we get the word Prabha.
The word Prabha is found in the famous Ganesh Mantra:
वक्रतुण्ड महाकाय सूर्यकोटि समप्रभ ।
निर्विघ्नं कुरु मे देव सर्वकार्येषु सर्वदा ॥
Vakra Tunda Maha Kaya Surya Koti Samaprabha |
Nirvighnam Kuru Me Deva Sarva Karyeshu Sarvada ||
Surya Koti Sama Prabha means : Effulgence equivalent to a Crore of Suns.
