What do we call Evil in Sanskrit?



Evil in Sanskrit is called पीडा (pIDA).



पीडा (pIDA) technically means pain.



Its logical because evil  पीडा (pIDA) causes pain for everyone.



The best part is  पीडा (pIDA) is a feminine word.

Well, I can't agree more because horror movies are always full of female ghosts!

Somehow only a female ghost is scary and not a male ghost.



Now how do we manage evil?

एकान्तता (ekAntatA) Privacy!







एकान्तता is the Sanskrit word for privacy.


Privacy is one's personal space where a person has absolute freedom to be themselves.


As humans mostly many of us try to want others to be like us in thought(विचार)(vicAra), word(वचनम्) (vacanam) and deed(कार्यम्)(kAryam) because subconsciously many like to invade(आस्कन्दति) (Askandati) the minds of others.


If we observe, God allows each person to enjoy their privacy(एकान्तता) (ekAntatA).


Every type of human walks this earth and each one of us come with an auto correct mechanism starting from a cellular level.

Well, frankly speaking I prefer dogs(कुक्कुराः)(kukkurAh) because I find them loyal but cats..well they are not as responsive as dogs.



What do you call a cat in Sanskrit?



Well there are a few words but today I will just focus on two words for cat.





मार्जारः  (mArjAraH)



मार्जालः (mArjAlaH)





Now both these words have a logical basis.



Well as we know, a cat likes to lick itself clean.



This act of licking itself clean is akin to sweeping one's self clean.



Sweeping in Sanskrit is called मार्जनम्(mArjanaM) hence a cat is called मार्जारः  (mArjAraH) and मार्जालः (mArjAlaH) because it "sweeps" itself clean.
